Building industry - building materials
The building industry is an area where our TPE films can demonstrate their benefits in terms of weather resistance, UV light and chemical resistance. Typical applications include roof underlining sheets, moisture barriers, comices and pipe linings. Amoung the most important benefits are paintability, deep drawability, and of course water vapour permeability.
Typical applications
Roof underlining sheets
Vapour-permeable roof underlining sheets are convenient solutions for roof applications. Thinner polyurethane films are used here because of their increased vapour permeability.
Comices
Comices are produced from polyurethane films by means of vacuum deep drawing, and then filled with hard PU foam. Once the PU foam has hardened, the comices can be painted using conventional dispersion paint. The main benefit of this combination is to allow for high degrees of forming.
Pipe refurbishments
Polyurethane films contribute to the efficient refurbishment of sewage water and gas pipes. Film pipes are inserted into the pipe to stabilize and seal them. In both cases they provide cost reductions and a faster completion of pipe refurbishment works.
Flexible tubes
Our films are a viable alternative to PVC and rubber whenever elastic connections are required. In its lighter versions, polyurethane stands out for its extremely high wear resistance. It is used whenever materials with a strong abrasive effect are to be transported.
Other possible applications:
- Vapour barriers
- Tank inner linings
