When used for functional clothes, membrane films have a number of important features. In addition to their high air and water impermeability, they also stand out for water vapor permeability, resistance to UV radiation, chemicals, and large variations of temperature. Despite their minimal weight, their mechanical properties are excellent and they can sustain long washing and cleaning cycles.

Single- or double-layer films made of TPE and hot melt films are used as a basis for seam sealing tapes. They are used to seal teytile seams, thus making sure that jackets or trousers are and remain watertight. Multi-layer tapes are easy to handle - one side is the adhesive side while the other, higher melting side provides the sealing.

Emblems laminated with hot melt films can be reliably applied to clothes using an iron.
