Press information: Multilayer films made from thermoplastic Polyurethane

 

Multilayer films made from thermoplastic Polyurethane (TPU) unite different or even opposed features in a single film. For instance, they combine high and low melting layers, integrate barriers against water vapour, gas, chemical or light (Black-Out Films).

High/ low melting films are used e. g. in seam sealing tapes or with foam lamination for dampening. The films can be thermobonded. They provide excellent adhesion even at low bonding temperatures and thus, are gentle to the bonded materials.

Multilayer films for medical gel cushions or cold/ heat-compresses have a barrier against water vapour. They guarantee longevity even with applications at high temperatures. Compresses gain a soft grip and smoothly adjust to shape of the body. Information or instructions can be directly printed onto the cover of cushions.

For lumber support these films provide firmness against burst pressure and maintain flexibility of the system in the heat of Africa as well as in the Nordic iciness.

TPU multilayer films resist high mechanical strength, thermal and chemical stress. The films can be processed easily and economically.
